Modern hobbit house

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and when it gives you … a dune, do yourself a hobbit house. Today we present you the creative solution that an architect in the US state Florida chose to use it to exploit an earth dune created by Hurricane Dora in 1964. A big fan of Tolkien and a big fan of the series “Lord of the Rings”, he chose to build not one, but two hobbit houses in the same earth dune, to get a natural thermal protection against the scorching sun of Florida and to benefit from the free publicity that would bring his project.

Although the house is literally built underground, it has quite enough natural light, and unlike most houses in Florida, it’s cooler, having a layer of a few centimeters of lawn. Another feature of this project is that it was built with a technology similar to that of the construction of swimming pools. Thus, the structure rejects humidity, as a good part of the furniture is built directly from … wall. For example, for the living room was needed only a few pillows and carpet, the rest being provided by the structural characteristics of the house.

Another interesting thing about this project is that it contains two houses, the only difference between them being the color. But otherwise, the assembly does not contain a hobbit house, but two, which are united by common external stairs. In addition, the assembly contains 70 square meters of private beach, for the delight of those who want to rent one of the two houses and want to enjoy a beach only for them.

This project is the proof that in every bad there is a little better. We just have to open our eyes, to see where that good really is.
