How to choose the most beautiful mirror

The mirror is not only an essential piece in every home, but also a decorative element that adds sophistication to a room and can visually enhance the space. However, to find the one that fits the decor is an art. Here’s a guide that will be useful:

What you have to take account of

First, when choosing a mirror you should keep in mind the shape of space. A horizontal mirror will accentuate the width, while a vertical one will accentuate the height. In addition, the mirror should reflect the style of the room in which it is placed. An oval mirror fits a curved interior, while a square or rectangular one is ideal for a formal house, very arranged.

A high room, in a house with 18th-century architecture, for example, needs a large mirror, which integrates perfectly into the decor. Therefore, you could choose even one with antiqued look, that would make it look slightly damaged just because of its seniority.

If you want to make your home a little Versailles, then you need a baroque mirror. What does that mean exactly? A mirror with a decorative frame carved with elements such as angels, flowers and fruits, with a high gable, in the style of Louis XIII and Louis XIV.

Let’s not forget about the famous Venetian mirrors. Such a piece becomes undoubtedly the focal point of a room thanks to its spectacular frame created from carefully cut small pieces of mirror.

A frameless mirror or with beveled edges will reflect more light and give the room a sexy air. It is a perfect solution for a bathroom for example. A large mirror can work perfectly as a background for a wall.

When you want a mirror that is purely decorative, choose a convex one. It’s perfect for a modern office. It will reflect the images inside reversed, to the delight of colleagues.

A mirror that was painted with various decorative elements is also a piece that adds value to a space. One with a playful design is perfect for children’s bedrooms.

For the matrimonial bedroom, instead, choose large mirrors, as the whole wall. The room will seem not only larger, but the game image that it makes becomes extremely sensual. In addition, the entire room will seem larger.
