LEARN HOW TO COMBINE PATTERNS AND COLORS IN HOME DECOR

The harmony in the rooms of your home is not very hard to accomplish, you just have to select carefully the patterns and colors of the materials that make up the general decor of the room. Here are some simple ideas, but effective, that will help you decorate rooms in an elegant way.

1. THINK IN PERCENTAGE

Try an approach in which the colors and decor themes to be drafted percentage: 60% for basic decor, 30% for secondary pattern and 10% for the accent traced discreet. A wallpaper with floral designs, coupled with a complementary color found in the geometric design elements and a discreet touch of color placed at a low level of the room, such as floor, give this room an elegant image.

2. REPEATING PATTERN

Learn to give consistency to the basic idea in decor by repeating the principal colors and geometric patterns in various accessories in the room. In this example, the brick-color of bedding is found in the background of some paintings in the room, the floral pattern of the curtains is duplicated in several other accessories, and the vertical stripes that adorn the textiles are found in most elements of decor.

3. COMPLEMENTARY PATTERNS

Choose models with a design as simple as possible, which will not be lost in the multitude of details in the room and double them emphasizing their effect. Use a neutral color to paint the walls to highlight the wealth of nuances given by the accessories used to decorate the room.

4. REINTERPRETED PATTERN

Choose decorative elements which replace each other in various plans. For example, the decorative pattern of the carpet in the living room discreetly puts in value the “X” shape of the tables in the decor, while the strong color of the panels in the room intertwine with the decorative cushions on the sofa.

5. SUBTLE BALANCE

No need to decorate the room in plenty of colors. The simplest equilibrium in the decor of a room is given by poorly contrasting elements and close tonality colors. The pale gray color of walls barely differs by the white furniture of this living room and happily complements the shades of pale blue of the chairs in the room. The splash of color given by the pink decorative pillows discreetly accentuates the brilliance of gold decor accessories: the mirror frame and the body of the chandelier.
