Wood stairs – the warmest accent for your home

Building your own home or decorating the one you’ve just bought? One of the nicest things to do! It’s obvious that here, at Archiki.com, we love everything that has to do with that and today we’re focusing on what we think it’s one of the most important decor items in one’s home: the stairs. And we’re not talking about stairs in general but about wood stairs. They add that something no other types of stairs succeed in adding. There’s something rustic about them that increase their success as hospitable home items and make them perfect for creating a warm decor.

Now, certain types of wood are recommended for stairs. There are wood fanatics that go even for unconventional materials less appropriate for home design use. Wood home accents look great anyways. When choosing the type of wood to be used for your staircases, it’s of utmost importance to pick the one that stands for quality and that won’t damage with the passage of years. Thorough care will make the wood last for quite long but the lack of it will surely shorten its life.

If you’re going to hire a designer to help you create the house of your dreams, he/she will let you know what type is best suited for your needs, preferences and budgets. If you want to do this by yourself, you will see that the stores selling wood stairs, treads, risers and stair parts will provide you with the information you need to make the right choice.

Cleaning the wood sounds…demanding. Well, actually it isn’t that much of a challenge. With the right cleaning products and by following the instructions they come up with, keeping your wood stairs clean and protecting them from scratches will be very much of a breeze. Check our “Tips on how to clean wood floor” post to find out more about this. As for the way they look, well we’ve gathered some pictures you might find inspiring for your own home.
