WHAT TO AVOID IN DECORATING THE HOUSE

Decorating the house reflects your tastes and personality. In a word, decoration is subjective. But there are some mistakes that can spoil the look of the house. Here are the most common and how you can avoid them!

1. EXCESS OF TRINKETS

There is nothing wrong to put here and there on the shelves a few trinkets, especially if these are souvenirs and art objects. But an entire glass case with colorful pieces will be a truly kitsch.

One solution would be to rotate them in the glass case and to not stuff them all at once. And organize them so that their colors to be complementary.

2. UNIFORM FURNITURE

Buying a full set for the living room makes it look like a showroom. It is monotonous and seems like you were influenced by others in choosing furniture.

A handy solution would be to mix styles. Combine metal parts with leather furniture or even new pieces with old pieces, so that everything look more familiar.

3. ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS

Artificial flowers look bad because they seem an inexpensive decor that could never compare with the beauty of fresh flowers.

Perhaps lack of time would urge you to opt for such improvisation. But a handy solution are plants that do not require much care, like a cactus.

4. THEMATIC ROOMS

You surely don’t want your home to look like a hotel. Therefore, if possible avoid decorating the rooms after a certain theme.

An antique piece or an exotic rug are pieces that can break the monotony without destroying the harmony of the place.

5. WALL STICKERS

Stickers can make a room look like a child’s room. Therefore, give them up.

Replace them with a tasteful wallpaper. You will give the room a sophisticated look and also a splash of color.

6. LACK OF COLOR

Out of fear of wrong, most of us are tempted to paint the rooms in white, the furniture possibly be also white, as well as the bed linen.

Break this monochromy using colors, from curtains to a cheerful carpet.

7. TOO MANY WIRES

Electronics usually come bundled with a lot of unsightly cables which represent a potential factor of triggering a fire.

Use as much as possible wireless products. Hide the rest of cables or decorate them with washi tape to make them more interesting.
