A trend that increasingly makes its presence felt in modern interior design is plating the walls with laminate flooring, panels and even wood paneling.
This solution is suitable in decorating any room in the house, whether it’s about living room, bedroom, office, hall, children room, kitchen and even the bathroom. Of course it is indicated to not abuse with the wood walls. In other words, if we choose to decorate with laminate flooring a wall in living room and perhaps one in bedroom, for the other rooms of the house would be better to choose a different type of decorative finish.
DECORATIVE WOOD PANELS
Ideal for finishing quickly a surface without causing a disarrangement, decorative wood panels are an environmentally friendly finish that can be applied even by a beginner in the field. They can also be applied over other types of finish, provided that the area that is going to be covered is stiff and flat. After applying a decorative wood panel, the finished surface becomes smooth. And if are mounted using wood screws or special dowels, decorative wooden panels can be reused, ie dismantled and applied on other support.
An alternative to wooden decorative panels are MDF panels available in a wide variety of designs and colors, simple, 3D engraved or perforated.
Another important quality of this modern finish is its long life. Manufacturers claim that after application, they can last up to 50 years, while being easy to maintain.
PLATING INTERIOR WALLS WITH LAMINATE FLOORING
If for floors is recommended to choose a thicker and resistant laminate flooring, for the walls can be chosen a thin laminate flooring, ie a cheaper one. Certainly, compared to decorative wood panels, the laminate flooring is cheaper.
To decorate a wall with laminate flooring is required installation of a support / frame, made of 4 cm thick wood props willing vertical, disposed at intervals representing half the length of a plank, so that they can be fixed at ends and in the middle. The frame will be fixed to the wall with special dowels at a height of 10 cm from the floor. Only now begins the actual installation of laminate flooring plaques.
Experts recommend installing the plaques horizontally, starting with the bottom right corner of the wall that is to be decorated. Thus, the first plaque will be mounted with the feather outwards to allow installation of the next plaque and so on. The first round of laminate flooring plaques will be fixed to the wooden frame mounted to the wall with wood screws screwed in the bottom of the plaque and panel pins on top, in the dado. The pins have to be nailed obliquely, from top to bottom so that their heads to enter fully into the dado. Otherwise the mount of the next row of plaques will be impossible.
After mounting the first plaque will continue installing the plaques in the first row by doing the same. Only then can be mounted the next line that will be fixed to the wooden frame on wall only at the top, ie in the dado.
Depending on the color of the chosen parquet, it can be used in decorating a wall both in a modern interior, and a rustic one, moreover, it can be applied also to the ceiling.
