Looking for a special place where to spend your vacation or a design idea for your dream home? Whatever your desire, know that you could ever inspire from the design and the concept behind some of the houses and hotels built underground.
Most of these surprising and environmentally friendly houses, being built from ecologic materials and using renewable energy sources.
In addition, they are the palpable evidence of ingenuity and creativity of architects, who had addressed several important issues: if the house should be hidden in the ground or emphasized, and the challenge of furnishing such a construction.
VILLA VALS, SWITZERLAND
Villa Vals in Switzerland is a vacation home, located in the Swiss Alps near the town of Vals. Two architecture houses (SeARCH and CMA) collaborated in the conception of this unusual building, whose design reveals a true respect for nature. Thus, for example, the villa facade is made of quartzite extracted from there.
Villa Vals also includes a courtyard that seems carved in stone and a thermal bath, the perfect place to admire the enchanting view that the amazing underground home offers.
Inside, Villa Vals is equipped with huge individual beds or bunk beds, furniture in a contemporary style and latest equipment. As for its eco features, we must say that Villa Vals uses hydroelectric power and is heated using natural thermal springs found in the area.
HOBBIT HOUSE IN WALES
Another absolutely stunning underground house is the Hobbit House, a project made by Simon Dale for his family. Although it is not necessarily “underground”, this building is still well “buried” in a hill in the beautiful green expanses of Wales.
The Hobbit House is a simple building with a structure made mostly of wood. It is also an ecologic construction, due to the solar panels used to generate electricity and the spring that provides the needed water.

HIDDEN HOUSE, LEBANON
BELLA VISTA HOTEL, ITALY
