SPINACH GRATIN, A QUICK RECIPE, IDEAL IN SPRING

Spinach is full of vitamins and minerals needed by the body. Take full advantage of this magical vegetable and add it as often as possible in your preparations. Here’s how to prepare a quick recipe of spinach gratin.

SPINACH GRATIN

INGREDIENTS

– 35 oz fresh spinach
– 1.7 oz butter
– 3 garlic cloves
– 1.7 oz flour
– 17 fl oz milk
– 1 white onion, finely chopped
– 5.3 oz grated parmesan
– 3.5 oz grated cheese
– salt
– pepper
– nutmeg

DIRECTIONS

Wash the spinach well and scald it in salted water for 2 minutes. Then drain it well.

Melt the butter in a wok or a non-stick saucepan and add the chopped onion. Cook it until it becomes slightly yellowish then add the mashed garlic and braise everything for another 30 seconds. Then incorporate the flour, stirring continuously for one minute. Add the milk gradually to avoid lumps.

After you have incorporated all the milk, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste and let it all simmer for 10 minutes, or until you get a sauce like bechamel sauce. Meanwhile, mix continuously for not sticking.

Add the spinach and cheese and mix well. If necessary add salt to taste. Turn off the cooker and add the mixture into a baking paper lined tray. Sprinkle with parmesan and put the tray in the oven for 30 minutes at medium heat.

Serve the spinach gratin warm, with bread croutons or corn chips.
