A well equipped kitchen is essential and important in every household. Practically no matter where you live, an open kitchen or a closed kitchen is compulsory. Be it a big or small family or even a bachelor pad, the kitchen is that useful room in the house which should be easily accessible. From its early beginning as an attachment or room of the house, mansion the kitchen has served as a workspace being regarded strictly for its use.
However in modern years while architecture and interior design have evolved granting a more pleasant lifestyle, the kitchen evolved from a practical space to a room with a certain ambience that can offer balance to the whole home.
If the kitchen used to be hidden tucked away in the back of the house with little access to it, the modern interior design principles state that it should be a warm and friendly space placed inn the middle of the ground floor right next to the living room. So the question comes down to what is better for your home and family a closed or an open kitchen?
These two opposite styles of kitchen will influence the way you dine and how you cook. The whole house will have a different feel simply by adding walls to your kitchen or by leaving it out and accessible.
The open kitchen concept came up a few years ago and it quickly became a hit. It is true a closed kitchen might be easier to clean and handle in certain conditions however the open kitchen has a different advantage. The open kitchen being connected to the dining or living room can make it easier for the person who cooks to talk to other family member or even engage in conversations.
The whole space will feel friendly rather than stiff and separate. After you cook a lovely meal you can easily bring out the trays and have dinner in the dining room . Another way is to serve it right off the kitchen counter. For instance the kitchen counter is a good place to have your breakfast right before you rush to catch the school bus on time. At first people were afraid to show that a kitchen is a messy place however now it is an integrated part of the home, it also helps parents multi-task
The closed kitchen on the other hand is more appropriate for single people who are doing one thing at a time and also serve their food in the kitchen or prefer to have friends over and only show the dining room instead the kitchen where all the food is being prepared. Some might go with a closed kitchen since it is easy to clean it doesn’t expose the mess you make when you cook and it is easier to ventilate. Some people prefer to invest their money in kitchen appliances instead of tearing down the walls and integrating the room in the rest of the house concept. If you are on a tight budget, a closed kitchen is a suitable way to go since it doesn’t require the fanciness of an open cooking space.
