HOW TO BRIGHTEN UP A DARK ROOM USING DECOR

A room without enough light is not a comfortable room! But even the darkest rooms can be transformed into oases of light with an inspired decor. Here’s what to do to bring light into your home:

1. IDENTIFY THE DARKENED AREAS

Most likely, if you live for a while in this house you might be used to it as it is. Take a tour of the rooms and identify the areas that need more light. You’ll know if you need larger windows or you need to change the decor altogether to escape of the feeling of darkness.

2. CHANGE THE COLOR OF WALLS

If your rooms need more warmth, choose shades like dark brown, beige or gray and combine them with white. They are extremely versatile, especially when placed near wooden floors, doors and dark wood furniture.

3. INSTALL SPOTS

A wood-paneled ceiling, like the one in the attic, can be illuminated using spots that will give also depth to the space.

4. MOUNT HANGING LAMPS

If your kitchen has dark areas, install some hanging lamps. Choose modern chandeliers, made of glass and stainless steel!

5. WARM LIGHTS FOR A COLD ROOM

A room with dark walls and furniture looks extremely sophisticated, but may be downright tiring when you want a little rest after a hard day. So, you can mount from place to place lamps with glowing lampshades, that diffuse a warm, pleasant light. You can also choose to install spots on the shelves.

6. BALANCE BETWEEN DARK AND LIGHT

The bedroom is your intimate space, so it is the place where there must be a balance. If the walls are gray, then opt for a light-colored bedding, ocher or ivory, to create a relaxing atmosphere.

7. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH MIRRORS

And if you have a dark furniture, mount as many mirrors to reflect each ray of light.
