The fact that JRR Tolkien is the most important writer of the 20th century, is almost unanimously accepted. However, to the adaptation of the movies, the books in the series “The Hobbit” and “Lord of The Rings” were not so popular as they are now, especially in the light of recent adaptation of the last movie of the book before Lord of the Rings.
The house that we present today is a hobbit house built somewhere in Pennsylvania by the architect Peter Archer for a family of avid fans of Tolkien, great collectors of everything that means manuscripts, sketches and costumes that appeared in the adaptation of the movies mentioned above.
The idea of building this hobbit house came when the owners realized they no longer have enough space for their collection, so they decided to take advantage of the nearby plot of land and build a thematic warehouse. And what other better warehouse and more appropriate than a hobbit house, one made in detail and in appropriate sizes, have been built?
You can see the result in the pictures above: a house of 55 square meters, carefully constructed after Tolkien’s drawings. True, on that property there was already a stone wall, which was quickly integrated in the construction. Although it seems a quite banal aspect, the house looks like it was built in extension of the wall, as a sort of transition between the realms, from the real world to the magical world of the British writer’s stories.
On the inside, there are plenty of weapons with Rohan’s and Gondor’s signs, and manuscripts and princeps editions of the works of Tolkien. However, it is a fully functional home that could be inhabited anytime, but now it plays the role of a personal museum for the owners.
