DESSERT FOR VALENTINE’S DAY: CAKE WITH WINE AND CHOCOLATE

How wine and chocolate are in great demand during this period, why don’t you make your half a special surprise? The cake with wine and chocolate is a delicious dessert, ideal for a romantic dinner for two on Valentine’s Day. Here’s how simple it is to prepare.

CAKE WITH WINE AND CHOCOLATE

INGREDIENTS

– 6.3 oz butter
– 7 oz sugar
– 4 eggs
– vanilla essence
– 12 oz of chocolate chips
– 2 teaspoons baking powder
– 12 oz flour
– 8.5 fl oz red wine
– 4 tablespoons cocoa
– a pinch of salt
– 6 oz baking chocolate
– 7 oz liquid cream

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 340 degrees F. Butter a heart-shaped cake pan with removable bottom.

In a bowl mix the flour with salt and baking powder.

In a mixer bowl add the butter, sugar and eggs and mix until you get a creamy paste. Incorporate then the vanilla and chocolate chips. Gradually add the flour mix.

Finally add the wine and cocoa. Add batter into pan and bake for 45-60 minutes at medium heat.

Check if the cake is baked using the toothpick test: enter a toothpick in the dough. If the toothpick comes out clean, it means the cake is baked. However, if on the toothpick you notice traces of dough, leave it in the oven for another 5 minutes, then repeat the test.

Leave the cake to cool completely, then put it on a platter.

In a microwave container add the liquid cream and diced baking chocolate. Leave it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, then mix well until the chocolate melts completely and you obtain a homogeneous glaze.

Let the glaze cool until it reaches room temperature, stirring occasionally so as not to harden the surface, then wrap the cake with it.

Finally you can decorate the cake with chocolate, fruits or whipped cream.

Serve the cake with a glass of red wine.
