5 natural wonders of Greece that you must see at least once in life

This country hides some of the most beautiful landscapes created without human intervention. Here are the places you should visit at least once in a lifetime!

Giola Lagoon or The mermaid pool

If you arrive on the Thassos island, you must visit Giola Lagoon, a lagoon formed naturally, without human intervention. Although the way to Giola is not very accessible and you have to walk a long distance, it is worthwhile. Once you’re there you can cool off in the beautiful turquoise pool, and the bravest can jump on the rocks.

GIOLA LAGOON OR THE MERMAID POOL

Melissani Cave

If you go to Greece you must visit Melissani Cave, located on Ionian island. It is a dream place, that seems taken from a science fiction movie. To reach the heart of the island you must pass through a narrow “corridor”. The cave is surrounded by high walls of rock. The upper part of the cave collapsed during an earthquake in 1953, giving way to the sun to flow like a waterfall. The sun illuminates the pool in turquoise colors which reflect on cave walls creating a dreamscape.

MELISSANI CAVE

Samaria gorge

Like Melissani Cave, Samaria Gorge could easily be the scene of a fantastic film like “Game of Thrones”. It is located on the island of Crete and is a mixture of steep and rocky shore, cobblestone walkways and amazing plants that merge into a fairytale landscape. It is the perfect location for people who are looking for adventure.

Volcano in Santorini

It is a true privilege to visit the island Santorini. The island was created after a volcanic eruption. On the island you can admire sceneries that seem drawn from science-fiction films, formed after the volcanic eruptions. Also the island is full of attractions that you can visit. Most intrepid can take a trip to the edge of the volcano which led to the formation of the island. Be careful though, the volcano is still active.

VOLCANO IN SANTORINI

The thermal springs of Samothraki

Samothraki is a small island located near the coast of Greece and Turkey. It is a magnificent place that few have heard about. Magnificent landscapes of the island are perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the bustle of big cities. And if you reach Samothraki you must visit the thermal springs. They are easily accessible and the stunning scenery made up of rock formations, plants and waterfalls will leave you speechless.
